Week 5 - MBA 6101 - Guerrilla Marketing
At work, I attended a High Reliability Training Session with many of other leadership members. During the session a video clip was played showing a starving young boy pick through the trash for food. Bystanders walked by and did not help or assist the boy nor contact anyone to provide the boy with assistance. Bystanders continue to ignore the boy and at times it looks like someone will help but they continue to walk away instead. As a viewer you a struck with sadness and empathy for the boy. You want to reach out and provide assistance by bringing him food. Watch the video and think what organization, entity, or group is marketing for providing help?
I was surprised to find it was not a homeless shelter or social services. New Zealand Police were marketing their services to show that joining their organization you can make the change to help young children, help the homeless, and help the starving. To me it is one of the best marketing campaigns because you feel a strong desire to help those in need as well as shows you the true goal in mission of this organization. The ad draws the viewer in and makes people want to join. I hope the ad campaign was successful and recruited new candidates taht wanted to help those in need and made a difference in their organization.
